About Simon
Simon Hutchinson is a composer, performer, sound artist, and researcher specializing in music technology, electronic music, sound design, interactive audio, game audio, immersive media, and AI for creative practice. As Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Music, Theater, and Dance at the University of New Haven, he teaches and mentors students in music production, synthesis, audio technology, composition, videogame audio, and digital creativity. His creative work has been presented internationally at conferences and festivals including SEAMUS, the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, TENOR, Audio Mostly (London), and events across North America, Europe, and Asia. His compositions have been released by Naxos and SEAMUS, and his music and sound design have appeared in videogames, podcasts, and documentary media distributed internationally.

- "AI, Retro, and Music of Our Time" (2025), Journal SEAMUS. Explores the relationship between artificial intelligence, nostalgia, and contemporary musical culture.
- "Building an Embodied Musicking Dataset for Co-creative Music-Making" (2024), published in Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science. Collaborative research on AI-assisted music creation and human-computer interaction.
- Ancestor (2024), a performance work for Apple Watch and analog synthesizer presented at the SEAMUS National Conference, Haverford College, and the Bleep-Blorp Festival of Synthesizer Music.
