Shannon Livewell '14, '15 MBA and Kyle Woodworth '15 met as undergraduate music industry students, and one of their most memorable Valentine’s Days was their first one together – while they were students at the University.
February 14, 2019
On his first day classes as a first-year student at the University of New Haven, Kyle Woodworth '15 noticed a young women sitting in the front of his economics class. He remembers that she was wearing a turtleneck and that she raised her hand frequently. This was Shannon Livewell '14, '15 MBA. They soon became friends, bonding over their love of music and writing songs together.
"I’m an extrovert, and I was intrigued by how mysterious Kyle seemed," said Livewell. "Every time I spoke, he looked at me like I was the only person in the world who mattered."
Livewell and Woodworth began dating as sophomores. While at the University, they created music together, and they planned a concert headlined by the rapper Witt Lowry.
In addition to their shared love of music, Livewell and Woodworth enjoyed trying the many restaurants near the University’s campus, and Wood-n-Tap and Cappetta’s were two of their favorites. They celebrated their first Valentine’s Day together with dinner and a movie. They still look forward to Valentine’s Day – even if they can’t be together on February 14 to celebrate.

"I have been on the road for the past two Valentine's Days, but when I come home, we always do something fun," said Woodworth. "It gives me more to look forward to that weekend while I’m working."
The couple is now living in Nashville. Livewell is a digital marketing manager for Universal Music Group, and Woodworth works for Warner Music, touring with country artists Brett Eldredge and Cole Swindell. They got engaged last June on a bridge overlooking the city.
The couple recently visited the University, remembering their days as students and the early years of their relationship. They still have fond memories of that time, and they are now looking forward to making more. They will be married on November 3 – one day after their seven-year anniversary.
"We want our wedding to be as personal as possible with lots of small details," said Livewell.
Woodworth adds, "It will be the first time that a lot of our friends and family will be in Nashville together, and we're really looking forward to it."
